Family Therapy

Family is where we first learned how to love—and often where we first learned how to hurt.

The relationships we share with family carry some of the deepest roots of who we are. And sometimes those roots get tangled. Old wounds resurface, communication breaks down, and the distance between you grows—even when you're in the same room.

Family therapy isn't about deciding who's right or wrong. It's about giving every voice a place to be heard, naming the patterns that keep you stuck, and learning how to show up for each other in healthier ways.

Whether you're navigating conflict, a major life transition, grief, or a breakdown in trust—this work can help you find your way back to each other.

Dr. Shelley works with adult family members who are ready to do something different. Because with the right support, healing is possible—and the people who matter most are worth the work.

You deserve a therapist who understands that families are complicated—because people are complicated.

Dr. Shelley brings nearly 20 years of clinical experience working with adults navigating some of the most complex and emotionally charged relationships we have—the ones with the people who raised us, the ones we've built, and everyone in between. Her training in Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Crucible Approach gives her a deep understanding of how family dynamics form, how they break down, and most importantly, how they can heal.

Family Systems Theory sits at the heart of her approach—because no one exists in isolation. The patterns we carry, the roles we play, and the ways we communicate all trace back to the family systems we grew up in and how we engage with each other. Understanding those roots is often the first step toward changing them.

And that philosophy extends beyond the therapy room.

Dr. Shelley is the author of the upcoming book, The Journey Back to Us: A Couple's Guide to UPLIFTing Love and Restoring Connection—a guide rooted in the belief that meaningful relationships require intention, accountability, and the courage to look honestly at ourselves. While written for couples, its principles speak directly to every significant relationship in our lives, including the ones we share with family.

Whether you're working with Dr. Shelley virtually or exploring her book, her message remains the same: no family is too broken to heal, and no dynamic is too entrenched to change.
