How do online services work?

Online services are very convenient, take place in the comfort and privacy of your own home or other location and are quick and easy to get started. First, use our “book now” button to schedule your online session. This will take you to a calendar to select your appointment time and to prepay for your session. After your booking is confirmed, Dr. Shelley will email you new client forms to complete prior to your first session. At your appointment time, Dr. Shelley will contact you at the number provided for a video chat.

Video chat allows for two people to speak through the computer screen or phone camera to feel as though they are in same room and seeing each other in-person. Phone sessions are also available if you would prefer not to video chat; however, services through video is highly recommended simply because this allows for a better connection and more personalized care as you can build a relationship and trust more easily.

Do you take health insurance?

No, we are currently not in-network with any health insurance companies; however, if you have out-of-network benefits, you may be able to submit a receipt of services called a superbill to your insurance company and receive some reimbursement for fees paid. Please note that all fees for service are due at the time of delivery. We cannot guarantee any reimbursement by your health insurance company.

Also, note that relationship coaching is not a covered service for most insurance companies. Often, marital therapy or couples counseling is not a covered service either.

Many health insurance companies will require a mental health diagnosis code and corresponding treatment or session code to be listed on your superbill for any reimbursement of psychotherapy services. You can contact your health insurance to inquire if your services may be reimbursed with your out of network benefits.

Do you have any in-person services available?

At this time, we are currently providing virtual services only. With the convenience, privacy, and proven efficacy of virtual services, we have elected to continue in the online only format for now; however, please note that in-person services in San Antonio, Texas maybe coming soon!
